Yankees Acquire Outman From Indians

Dec 13, 2014 2:59 AM

The New York Yankees have acquired Josh Outman from the Cleveland Indians.

New York added the left-handed specialist for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Outman opened this season as a member of Cleveland's bullpen, but was designated for assignment in June and sent outright to Triple-A Columbus.

Orioles 'Keeping Active' On Potential Waiver Trades

Sep 16, 2014 3:38 PM

The Baltimore Orioles are still looking at potential moves as Sunday's deadline to add players who can be eligible for the postseason looms.

"We've been active. We are keeping active," Dan Duquette said. "It's just, this time of the year, it's a very limited pool of players that you can add externally to your ballclub. Probably the best resource is in the minors, the minor leagues."

The Orioles added Michael Morse in a trade with the Seattle Mariners last Aug. 30.

Yankees Nearly Gave Up On Acquiring Prado

Dec 11, 2014 10:45 PM

Shortly before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, the New York Yankees nearly gave up on acquiring Martin Prado from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Brian Cashman and Kevin Towers had discussed Prado for a few days. He is owed $22 million over the next two seasons.

The Diamondbacks were looking for a bigger haul in return than simply Pete O'Brien, the slugging minor league catcher. Towers proposed multi-player deals asking for various Yankee prospects Cashman wasn't willing to trade.

The Atlanta Braves were linked to the Chicago Cubs in a proposed B.J. Upton-Edwin Jackson deal last month and the club is expected to revisit dealing the outfielder this offseason.

Angels Unlikely To Make Play For Colon

Sep 17, 2014 4:54 AM

Bartolo Colon reportedly cleared waivers on Monday, but he doesn't appear to be a fit for the Los Angeles Angels.

The New York Mets can trade him to any club, but his age (41) and the $11 million he's guaranteed in 2015 are prohibitive.

The Angels lost Tyler Skaggs and Garrett Richards to season-ending injuries this month, fueling speculation that they could go after Colon. They already have about $140-million in salary commitments for luxury tax purposes to 10 players who are under contract for 2015.

Mets Have Waiver Options For Colon

Oct 22, 2014 11:04 AM

The New York Mets have some options for Bartolo Colon if they want to trade him prior to Sunday's waiver deadline.

Colon has a 3.82 ERA and 5.91 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season, something that could attract contenders.

The Mets reportedly placed Colon on waivers this past weekend, opening the door for a potential move.

The Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates could all be potential landing spots for the veteran right-hander.

Red Sox Could Target Heyward For Outfield

Sep 28, 2014 9:08 PM

The Atlanta Braves may not have Jason Heyward in their long-term plans, which could lead to trade rumors.

The Boston Red Sox are in the market for an outfielder and if Giancarlo Stanton isn't available, Heyward is a likely target.

Heyward can become a free agent after the 2015 season and Atlanta made their feelings about his future known when they signed him for just $13.3 million over two seasons around the same time that they gave Freddie Freeman an eight-year, $135 million extension.

The Red Sox could complete a sign-and-trade with the Braves for a handful of prospects.
